Peek-a-boo Cutouts

Top Left: Via Bespoke , Far Right: Via The Suburban Diary , Bottom Left: Via Gazelle85 Laser cutting, perforations or peek-a-boo cut-outs as they are so aptly-put are for lack of a better phrase so hot right now! Think of a plain stiletto or a white wall and imagine how impactful it could be with just the hint of a watermarked pattern running right the way through it.  Well that my friends is called a cut-out embellishment and it is brilliant for adding personality to your spaces and fashion looks. Top Left: Via Dezeen , Far Right: Via Styling Notes , Bottom Left: Via Heart Home Mag I personally have a love-hate relationship with lace and lace overlays and if you share this infrequent distaste then perforations and cut-outs strike a nice middle ground.  The overlay is permanent and can be anything from a series of geometric cut-outs to Moroccan inspired patterns yet the effect is timeless and perhaps most of all is it is just so different. Pattern Attack!

With the change in season I feel inspired to brighten things up with prints and patterns. On trend right now is to be fearless with patterns and prints and to try some bold combinations. Check our previous post  how to mix prints  to take it to the next level. I'm a big fan of Porter Teleo's unique wall paper prints so I've dedicated quite a few of this posts image round up to their fabulous print collection. I love this large red graphic  Porter Teleo Wallpaper against the eclectic art and blue accessories. This outfit combination is from the latest  Karen Walker walker range, mixing prints well. It's all white

It's all white, floor to ceiling  Moving to our new beach house has been an exciting journey. We finally got to live in our dream location, but were faced with the real challenge of it not being our dream home. The house is a 100-year-old beach bach small, dark and sandwiched in-between the neighboring houses in Lyall Bay, Wellington, New Zealand. Our creative vision for the kitchen and living room renovation was to open it up as much as possible, create light reflecting surfaces to produce an optical illusion of a bigger, lighter and airy space. I actively used every tip in a previous blog post of 'how to make a room look bigger'  to make the best use of our limited space. With our design aesthetic we have tried to respect the history of the house and bring it into the future with an eclectic vibe that combines the old and new, the retro with the modern that works together in a symbiotic and aesthetically pleasing way. Our brief and mood board had three key ideas Beach...

The strangest of the strange

Quite a few strange fashion items have crossed my path lately. I've found them to be at times repulsive and bizarre but mostly quite entertaining. I was conflicted about writing this post because I thought that looking at weird stuff wouldn't necessarily inspire our readers, but then it reminded me that what we consider "beautiful" changes over time and we should always try to remain open-minded to new, creative and quirky ideas, even if at first we may not find them appealing. Think back to the first time you ever saw a fashion trend like the the fluro trend, or jeggings (or leggings as pants) or heelless shoes for example. Chances are it jolted your senses and you could have rejected it. Then a couple of months later you've bought two pairs of jeggings (maybe) and cant live without them. Is it peer pressure, is it just your eyes and tastes adjusting and finding the beauty in this new style? A pparently this is completely normal and in our nature - There is in a...
