Dotty

Image
Two of my favorite trends at the moment dots and metallic! Loving the decals, fun and easy to do. Interior image from Lauren Conrad Polka dots, dots, and spots whatever you may call them they dont really seem to ever go out of fashion, but rather have resurgences into popularity. In womens fashion they have a very fun and youthful image, which could be because they were made famous by Minnie Mouses red and white dress back in the 1920s. However dots can also be very sophisticated and fashion forward as some of the examples in this post demonstrate. Polka-dots go way back in time with this example of Marilyn Munroe in the 50s Image from Hunting in Heels Fast forward to the present day and this is one of the most elegant examples of polka dots I could find. By far a monochrome black and white polka dot pattern seems to dominate celebrity fashion. Emma wears Luca Luca Spring 2012. Pattern Attack!

Image
With the change in season I feel inspired to brighten things up with prints and patterns. On trend right now is to be fearless with patterns and prints and to try some bold combinations. Check our previous post  how to mix prints  to take it to the next level. I'm a big fan of Porter Teleo's unique wall paper prints so I've dedicated quite a few of this posts image round up to their fabulous print collection. I love this large red graphic  Porter Teleo Wallpaper against the eclectic art and blue accessories. This outfit combination is from the latest  Karen Walker walker range, mixing prints well. Outfit image courtesy of  preciouspeg.com Handpainted Porter Teleo wallpaper in a beautiful colour combo of blues, teals, tans and yellows. Sister Jane Monet dress from asos.com . We can't have a  pattern attack round up without polka dots. I love the raw texture that the drip effect from the hand painted Porter Teleo wallpaper gives. This is an amazing dress fr...

Tangerine and Sapphire (AKA Orange and Navy)

Image
Outfit pic - Dress from Karen Walker Hi There range Interior pic - courtesy of MadeByGirl So orange and navy would have worked fine as a title but I wanted to be a bit fancier and went for the more pretentious "tangerine and sapphire" title option instead. Either way you'll have to agree that its an intensely bold combo. I bought this cute dress for a friends wedding from my favorite fashion designer Karen Walker and also got to wear to an awards ceremony the following week - efficient cost per wear! Vintage sapphire ring from my mother Are you brave enough to go for navy walls? Are you brave enough to try this combo at all? I will gladly try out the fashion option but with interiors I must admit it looks beautiful but I'm a bit intimidated by this bold combo. Safer option would be to go for some loud accessories. As bold as this combo gets! Only for the brave. Image courtesy of Rue Love chevron! Image courtesy of Living Livelier Image  courtesy of T raditional Home ...

Karen Walker

Karen Walker Image courtesy of HOME NZ I'm a huge Karen Walker fan, not just for her beautiful designs, but also for her (and her husband's) business savvy in terms of how they've created a hugely successful international brand. Karen Walker's style (from my perspective) is often a juxtopostion of extreme styles, mixing masculine and feminine, and overall the label is relaxed, effortless and timeless.  As with some other famous international fashion brands Karen Walker has also made the transition from clothing and accessories across to home interiors and home-wares. She already has her own paint color range from Resene , but what got me really excited was her step into linens and crockery. The Karen Walker paint range. Image courtesy of Resene Paints The jewelry is from Karen Walker's Super Fine range and this cup is available from Myer Australia I must obtain the full set! Superfine diamond Daisy ring and matching mug Unfortunately the home-wares...
