Don't fear the sheer - Sheer tending again in 2018

Image
This striking piece of furniture is a "Rib Slipper Chair" by Shiner International. A dramatic piece for any modern styled home. I've paired with this statement black sheer and cut out style gown from the Valentino 2018 Spring collection. An elegant and striking look. Interior image via allmodern.com Fashion image via fuckyeahfashioncoture.tumbler.com Sheer fashion was everywhere in 2017 and with new looks continuing to hit the runways and mainstream fashion chains, signs indicate that its here to stay for 2018. The transparent dresses, skirts and tops are holding strong into the next season, so if you've already invested in this look that's great news, keep rocking those floaty pieces! I believe that a sheer fabric adds some formality, femininity and elegance to a look, and it can allow women to reveal just that little bit more without being garish and tacky. Sheer fashion can create a delightful tension between demure and sexy. The first thing that will ...

80's Flashback - Pastels Trend Updated

Image
Pastels Miami Vice Style Image via passportmiami.com and theredlist.c om Pastels have been trending for a few seasons now, but have recently had another surge in mainstream popularity. Aside from fashion I'm seeing a lot more pastels influencing interior decor with many of the mainstream retailers here in New Zealand like Citta ,  Country Road and Freedom Furniture jumping on the trend. Many of us (older generations) may remember the 80's cop TV show Miami Vice, where for me the most outstanding feature of the show was the fashion worn by the cast and in particular their penchant for pastels. It's impressive how Don Johnson can make a lilac tank top and white pant combo look so macho with his over the shoulder "are you checking out my butt" glare. Yes Don we are. Who knew pastels could be so manly! Even the ankle grazing,  cropped pants and loafers look is back - check out Tinie Tempah's reinterpretation of this 80's style statement. Let's start w...

Fashion in the vines - image via stuff.co.nz This summer I entered the Fashion in the vines competition at the Marlborough Wine and Foods Festival . I came third in this Trelise Cooper Coop dress which Erena helped me choose and style. It was such a fun day of wine tasting, great food and awesome memories with great friends. The hubby and I enjoying our day. A very important part of the outfit is the lipstick! M.A.C - Candy Yum Yum Matt Lipstick, super bright fluro pink! I've decided to make this post all about the PINK!  M.A.C Candy Yum Yum Matt lippie, wear it and people cant help but comment, its not a shy colour A beautiful lady showing off close up this lipstick colour Image via Pinterest.com A lot of my friends balk at the idea of pink in interiors, but just like Candy Yum Yum lippie you can add pink in a small thoughtful way to create a pretty impact. Bright pink leather pouf in our living room adds just a touch of pink yumminess Pink and turquoise such complimentary colors...

Dotty

Image
Two of my favorite trends at the moment dots and metallic! Loving the decals, fun and easy to do. Interior image from Lauren Conrad Polka dots, dots, and spots whatever you may call them they dont really seem to ever go out of fashion, but rather have resurgences into popularity. In womens fashion they have a very fun and youthful image, which could be because they were made famous by Minnie Mouses red and white dress back in the 1920s. However dots can also be very sophisticated and fashion forward as some of the examples in this post demonstrate. Polka-dots go way back in time with this example of Marilyn Munroe in the 50s Image from Hunting in Heels Fast forward to the present day and this is one of the most elegant examples of polka dots I could find. By far a monochrome black and white polka dot pattern seems to dominate celebrity fashion. Emma wears Luca Luca Spring 2012.
